Councilman Seeks Legal View on DWP Contract

Councilman Tony Cardenas on Wednesday asked City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo for a legal opinion on whether the council would face an unfair labor practice violation if it refused to ratify a contract approved by Department of Water and Power workers that some officials have called excessive.
Cardenas also asked that the opinion determine whether the council can direct its bargaining team to renegotiate the contract, which provides 8,000 workers with raises of at least 17% and up to 34% over five years.
