Weekend gig: Tracy Smith, a reporter for CBS’ morning news program for five years, has been appointed co-anchor with Russ Mitchell on Saturday’s version of “The Early Show.” She replaces Gretchen Carlson, who quit to join Fox News Channel.

Grammy date: The Latin Grammy Awards will be back at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. this year, the Latin Recording Academy announced Tuesday. The sixth annual awards will be handed out Nov. 3 in a ceremony that will be telecast on Univision.

Casting news: Matthew Perry, formerly of “Friends,” will star in a TV movie for TNT, “The Ron Clark Story,” about a North Carolina man who finds success as a teacher in New York City.
