For Andujar, It Should Be All Downhill From Here

Those who like races on Santa Anita’s downhill turf course will be in heaven this afternoon.
Half of the card is made up of about 6 1/2 furlong races on the grass, beginning with the second, then continuing with the fourth, sixth and eighth.
Of the four races, Andujar seems the most probable winner against five opponents in the second, a $44,000 maiden contest for older fillies and mares.
Owned by S.L. Darpat and trained by Julio Canani, Andujar, a 4-year-old daughter of Quiet American, finished second in her U.S. debut March 9, beaten by a half-length by stablemate Cotopaxi, who also was making her first start in this country.
In the sixth, Getthepartystarted will try for her third victory in her last four starts against nine other fillies and mares in the $52,000 allowance. The 5-year-old Game Plan mare has two victories and a second in three races since being claimed by trainer Jenine Sahadi for Baja Racing Stable.
Four others in the field also are coming off victories: Lady Libertine, Fire Bolt, Thunder’s Echo -- who hasn’t run since June 18 for trainer Craig Dollase -- and Madour, who went two for two in Chile but hasn’t raced since May 28.
Race of the day: Jacaranda Jane, who broke her maiden by 4 1/4 lengths in her lone start in South Africa on Feb. 4, 2004, will make her first start for Team Valor and trainer John Kimmel in today’s eighth at Gulfstream Park.
Joe Bravo will ride the 4-year-old Joshua Dancer filly in the $33,000 allowance at five furlongs on the grass.
One for the road: Matt’s Memo looks like the controlling speed in today’s sixth at Aqueduct and might be able to take his six rivals wire-to-wire in the $50,000 claimer for 3-year-olds at six furlongs. Mike Luzzi will ride the son of Memo, who won two of five in California before shipping to New York earlier in the year, for Weatherwatch Farm and Roddy Valente and trainer Bruce Levine.
Exotically speaking: A pick four using Euro Mazing, Callmedistinctive and Summer Jersey in the fifth, Getthepartystarted, Madour and Quatrain in the sixth, Jack’s Wild, Don Chuey and Lone Prairie in the seventh and Love Ya in the eighth.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/190. Money: Previous day/meet total: $28.20/$1,056. Total money bet: $1,272.
