Titan Corp., which has faced questions about Iraqi prisoner abuse and has seen a government bribery probe scuttle its purchase by Lockheed Martin Corp., said Tuesday that it had named an executive to head its ethics committee.

Titan spokesman Wil Williams said David Danjczek, who directed the ethics and compliance council at Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI and acted as secretary and vice president of administration, would be corporate vice president for compliance and ethics.

In June, Lockheed dropped plans to buy the San Diego-based company because a federal probe of possible bribery of foreign officials by Titan units or consultants continued past a Lockheed purchase deadline.

Titan, which provides translation services and surveillance systems to the U.S. government, was also named in a Pentagon report about prisoner abuse at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison. The internal Army report said a Titan linguist witnessed abuse.

Titan shares rose 5 cents Tuesday to $13.85 on the New York Stock Exchange.
