State’s Consumer Confidence Grows
California consumers’ confidence continued to grow in the third quarter, amid perceptions that the U.S. economic recovery is on track and recent sluggish job growth is temporary, according to a survey released by Chapman University in Orange.
Its California consumer sentiment index rose to 110.6 in the quarter, up from 101 in the second quarter and the highest reading since the survey began in 2002. It was the sixth consecutive quarterly improvement in the index.
The survey, similar to the University of Michigan’s survey of national consumer sentiment, is based on responses from 5,000 residences throughout the state.
