Part-Time Lawmakers
Re “Old School’s Out,†editorial, Aug. 31: How odd that when we are suggesting that emergency credentialed teachers -- those learning on the job -- aren’t good enough to teach our children, we choose “emergency credentialed†legislators, who by law must vacate their positions as soon as they learn enough to be effective.
Stranger still is that our governor would make them part-timers so they never would have enough on-the-job experience to be effective. No conspiracy theorist, I still can’t help but wonder if this isn’t an attempt to ensure that only the executive branch has the requisite skills to govern.
