Part-Time Lawmakers

Re “Old School’s Out,� editorial, Aug. 31: How odd that when we are suggesting that emergency credentialed teachers -- those learning on the job -- aren’t good enough to teach our children, we choose “emergency credentialed� legislators, who by law must vacate their positions as soon as they learn enough to be effective.

Stranger still is that our governor would make them part-timers so they never would have enough on-the-job experience to be effective. No conspiracy theorist, I still can’t help but wonder if this isn’t an attempt to ensure that only the executive branch has the requisite skills to govern.
