From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Federal Emergency Management Agency said Friday the state would receive more than $7.3 million to repair a levee break in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and help prevent future breaches.
The funds are the first to flow from FEMA to the state Department of Water Resources to cover three-quarters of repair and prevention costs from the June 3 break, which swamped 12,000 acres of farmland.
Costs from the disaster are estimated at $90 million.
