2 Who Died in Head-On Crash Are Identified
The Ventura County coroner’s office has released the names of two people killed in a head-on collision on California 126 near Santa Paula this week.
Jose Luis Rizo-Sanchez, 40, and Sheri Lyn Dominguez, 41, both of Fillmore, were killed Monday in the crash east of Timber Canyon Road. Their names had been withheld until relatives were notified.
Rizo-Sanchez was driving east in a van with Dominguez and another passenger, Andres Castro Tobar, 42, of Fillmore. Tobar remained in critical condition Wednesday at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol investigators are still trying to determine what caused Rizo-Sanchez to cross into westbound traffic and crash into a sport utility vehicle driven by Cynthia Lee Bailey, 50, of Ventura. Bailey remained in critical condition Wednesday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, authorities said.
The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. and delayed traffic in both directions for several hours.
