Re “Dodgers Exit the Stage With a Touch of Class,” Sports, Oct. 11: The Dodgers probably did more for baseball’s image in the first 10 minutes after Game 4 than the rest of the league has done in the entire season.

Like many St. Louis fans, I watched our baseball Cardinals in the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As I watched the celebration take place after the game, I was surprised to see the Dodger players and staff on the field congratulating the Cardinal players. Although such a practice is commonplace in hockey playoffs, I have never seen this demonstrated by a major league baseball team.
The Dodger organization, manager Jim Tracy, the players and their fans are to be complimented for this truly class act.

Thanks to the Dodgers for showing all of America what sportsmanship is all about! As a Cardinal fan, I only hope that if the Cards are unable to win the championship, they will show that same spirit in congratulating the victors.
