NBC Hires Top Executive From CBS

NBC, scrambling to get its house in order as it merges with Vivendi Universal Entertainment, has hired a top CBS executive who played a key role in the hit TV show “Survivor.”
Ghen Maynard, who also helped shepherd the unscripted series “The Amazing Race” and “Star Search” at CBS, will become the No. 2 programming executive at NBC. He will report to Kevin Reilly, who this week was promoted to entertainment president.
Maynard rose to industry prominence in 2000, when he championed “Survivor,” which went on to become a major hit for CBS. As executive vice president of prime-time development at NBC, Maynard will work on developing new scripted series. CBS has not announced a replacement.
