Government Says Papers on Gassings Were Fake

North Korea claimed that documents given to South Korean activists that referred to gas chamber experiments on prisoners in the North were fake. The regime’s official KCNA news agency quoted engineer Kang Byong Sop as saying he was tricked into handing over papers fabricated by a son who had defected to South Korea.
Rights activists in February released the papers, but there was no way to confirm their authenticity. The elder Kang was arrested in China during an attempt to defect to South Korea, the activists said.
