Kidd Is Sidelined Again by Bad Knee

From Associated Press

New Jersey Net point guard Jason Kidd will sit out at least five games after being put on the injured list Friday because of a bruised left knee.

Kidd could not guarantee a return before the playoffs. He underwent an MRI exam and team doctors planned to evaluate the results over the weekend.

“This is a serious injury,” Net Coach Lawrence Frank said. “If he’s able to come back, he will. If he isn’t, he won’t.”

Kidd missed a four-game trip earlier this month because of the same injury.

He had 10 points and five assists in 39 minutes Thursday in a loss to Detroit but appeared to be slowed.

Police were investigating a reported brawl outside a strip club early Thursday that allegedly involved Portland Trail Blazer forwards Darius Miles and Qyntel Woods.

Neither was arrested or charged after the alleged fight outside a club in North Portland.

Police responded to a call reporting a fight in the club’s parking lot at 2:25 a.m. But no one was there when they arrived.

“We don’t have a comment until we can gather all the information we can,” team president Steve Patterson was quoted as saying in the Portland Oregonian.

The Cleveland Cavaliers put former UCLA guard Jason Kapono (knee tendinitis) on the injured list and activated guard Kedrick Brown to give them another backcourt player while Jeff McInnis nurses a bruised right shoulder.
