Woman Gets 25 Years for Killing Husband
From Times Wire Reports
TEXAS
A Texas woman who stabbed her husband 193 times in what she said was an act of self-defense after years of abuse was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Susan Wright, 27, began to cry after state Judge Jim Wallace read the decision of the jury, which set her punishment a day after finding her guilty of murder.
Wright could have been sentenced to up to 99 years; she will be eligible for parole in 12 1/2 years.
Prosecutors said Wright wanted to cash in on a $200,000 life insurance policy.
