Suspect Arrested in Slaying
Authorities have arrested a Sacramento man in connection with the fatal shooting of 6-year-old Bryesha Limbrick, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.
Sheriff’s detectives tracked Eric Andrew Odell, 18, to Sacramento, where he was taken into custody Thursday morning, Deputy Rich Pena said.
Pena said he expected Odell to be charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
Bryesha was with her uncle getting ice cream at a 7-Eleven in El Monte on July 18 when a man described as in his 20s sprayed a nearby intersection with gunfire, police said.
The girl was hit and died at the scene. A man and his daughter driving by also were wounded.
The shooting shocked residents of El Monte and pushed authorities to launch a manhunt. Authorities held a community meeting Thursday asking for the public’s help in finding Bryesha’s killer.
