Courtney Love was taken to a hospital Friday in New York, just hours after a court commissioner in Los Angeles issued a warrant for the singer’s arrest when she missed her arraignment on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

Love, who turned 40 on Friday, went to the hospital after developing a gynecological problem, said her attorney, Michael Rosenstein.

“It is totally unrelated to any kind of drug use or abuse,†said Rosenstein, who added that he had no details on her condition.

Los Angeles Court Commissioner Dennis E. Mulcahy issued the bench warrant Friday morning after Love failed to show up for a scheduled hearing in a downtown courtroom. The district attorney’s office said Love could be arrested as soon as the warrant was filed.

Rosenstein said Love was aware of Friday’s hearing but “she confused the dates.†He said she was not attempting to hide from the assault charge.

Two other cases are pending against Love in California: a felony drug case in Beverly Hills and a misdemeanor case in downtown Los Angeles. Both have hearings next week, but she is not required to appear at them.

Mulcahy said there was no legal excuse for Love to miss Friday’s hearing and rejected Rosenstein’s request to withhold the warrant. He ordered Love’s $55,000 bail reset at $150,000.

Deputy Dist. Atty. Gina Satriano said the singer could be arrested as early as today.

Love was arrested in April after allegedly attacking singer Kristin King with a bottle and a metal flashlight at the L.A. home of Love’s ex-boyfriend and manager, Jim Barber.

She was arrested in October for allegedly trying to break into Barber’s house. Cocaine and other opiates were found in her system. She pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in Los Angeles County Superior Court and agreed to enter a drug rehabilitation program. In Beverly Hills Superior Court, Love is accused of illegal possession of prescription painkillers.
