Hamilton, Wallace Lead Pistons, 90-89

Richard Hamilton scored all eight of Detroit’s points in overtime and Ben Wallace blocked two shots in the final five seconds as the Pistons defeated the Toronto Raptors, 90-89, Friday night at Toronto.

Vince Carter sent the game into overtime with a three-point basket and gave the Raptors a three-point lead with 1:01 left in the extra period, but Hamilton followed with a driving layup and two free throws, giving the Pistons a 90-89 lead with 23 seconds left.

Toronto’s Alvin Williams and Chris Bosh both missed jump shots before Wallace blocked Morris Peterson’s attempt with five seconds left. The Raptors won the ensuing jump ball, and Wallace blocked Carter’s potential game-winning jumper just before the buzzer.

Wallace had 18 rebounds and Hamilton finished with 28 points. Carter had 31 points for the Raptors, who have lost six of seven.

Milwaukee 101, Cleveland 95 -- The big attraction for the sellout crowd of 18,717 was the first visit to Milwaukee by rookie LeBron James, who missed three consecutive free throws in the final minute to end what might have been a close finish.

With the Cavaliers trailing, 96-91, with 41 seconds left, James was fouled by Joe Smith while shooting a three-pointer. James, who made only seven of 25 shots, finished with 20 points.

The Bucks, who won for the 14th time in their last 15 home games, improved to 19-5 at home, best in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia 85, New Orleans 82 -- Aaron McKie made two jump shots in the final 1:35 at Philadelphia to help the 76ers end a four-game losing streak. Allen Iverson returned to the lineup after sitting out two games because of a sprained finger and had 31 points and eight assists.

Washington 105, Phoenix 100 -- Larry Hughes scored 13 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter when the Wizards rallied from a 15-point deficit at Washington. He scored seven points during a 15-0 run that tied the game, and his three--pointer with 1:12 left gave the Wizards a four-point lead.

New York 92, Boston 74 -- The Knicks, playing without shooting guard Allan Houston, who is sidelined with ailing knees, handed the Celtics their second consecutive loss under interim coach John Carroll. In all, the Celtics lost for the seventh time in nine games.

Utah 85, Memphis 79 -- The Jazz outrebounded the Grizzlies, 44-26, and held Pau Gasol, their leading scorer and rebounder, to 10 points and two rebounds at Memphis, Tenn., in extending their winning streak to three games.

Golden State 101, Chicago 81 -- Speedy Claxton, Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy scored 15 points apiece in the Warriors’ third straight victory. It was the Bulls’ ninth loss in 10 games -- and their seventh straight road loss. At 13-34, they are a half-game ahead of Orlando for last place overall in the NBA.

The Charlotte Bobcats will begin building their roster when an expansion draft is held June 22, unless the NBA Finals goes to a Game 7. The NBA announced the date Friday, with a move-back date of June 23. Each of the 29 NBA teams will be allowed to protect eight players.... Indiana Pacer forward Al Harrington has no structural damage in his sore right knee and isn’t expected to be sidelined. He had tests on his knee Thursday, one day after feeling pain during a victory over Phoenix.
