Pepperdine (14-14, 9-4) at St. Mary’s (17-11, 8-5), noon, Fox Sports Net 2 -- Pepperdine has won five consecutive games and is 8-3 since Yakhouba Diawara was cleared to play after sitting out the season’s first 17 games because of an NCAA review of his eligibility. Diawara, a 6 foot 7 junior from Paris, had 28 points during the Waves’ 93-80 victory Thursday over San Francisco. Pepperdine defeated St. Mary’s, 86-82, on Jan. 29 at Malibu. St. Mary’s lost to Loyola Marymount, 77-76, on Thursday.

USC (15-11, 11-6) at UCLA (15-11, 10-7), 2 p.m., Pauley Pavilion, KMPC (1540), KIIS (850) -- Simply being a game involving the Trojans and Bruins makes this matchup intriguing. But this time both teams have something to play for. USC caught a break when Washington defeated Arizona State on Thursday, moving the Trojans into a tie for third in the Pac-10. If USC wins, it will be seeded third in next week’s conference tournament -- strengthening the Trojans’ argument to be in the NCAA tournament. The Bruins can gum up the works and force a three-way tie for third if they win and Arizona State is upset by Washington State. And there’s no team’s season UCLA would rather ruin than USC’s.
