From Times Staff Reports
PACOIMA
A man was killed Saturday when he stepped into the path of a Metrolink train, police said.
The train was traveling about 70 mph when it struck Jose Gomez, 46, of Granada Hills just before 11 a.m. near San Fernando Road and Van Nuys Boulevard, said LAPD Lt. Steven Allen.
Officials could not immediately determine whether Gomez committed suicide. Rail traffic signals and crossing arms were working properly, Allen said.
