Bustamante Urges Minorities to Give Blood

Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante on Friday urged black and Latino students at Washington Prep in South Los Angeles to donate blood to help during a critical shortage.
Bustamante noted that minorities often have widely needed blood types, but generally donate at far lower rates than do whites.
Last month, the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Unified School District announced a campaign to increase blood donations from Latinos, who have a high proportion of type-O blood.
