Texas Extends Home Streak With Victory
Tiffany Jackson scored 13 points to lead No. 4 Texas to its 41st consecutive victory at home, 83-33, over Sam Houston State on Tuesday at Austin, Texas.
Adah Wells led the Bearkats (2-7) with eight points and three rebounds. Sam Houston State shot only 25% from the field.
The Longhorns (7-2) scored 35 points off Sam Houston turnovers.
No. 7 North Carolina 91, Lipscomb 45 -- Freshman Erlana Larkins matched her career high with 22 points and had 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels (10-1) at Chapel Hill, N.C. Courtney Boynton had 11 points for the Bisons (5-3).
No. 13 Texas Tech 83, Sacramento State 37 -- Cisti Greenwalt scored 19 points, and the Lady Raiders (8-2) limited the Hornets (3-6) to 17 points in the second half, including three baskets in the final 7:41.
No. 18 Iowa 59, Wisconsin Milwaukee 51 -- Johanna Solverson led the way with 23 points as Iowa wiped out a five-point halftime deficit at Milwaukee.
The Hawkeyes (11-0) shot only 28.1% in the first half. But they made 53.3% after the break while holding the Panthers (3-6) to 29.2% for the half and 30.4% for the game.
No. 20 Purdue 57, South Dakota State 50 -- Katie Gearlds scored 24 points, and Erin Lawless had 17 and nine rebounds at West Lafayette, Ind., helping the Boilermakers (7-3) avoid a stunning upset by the Jackrabbits (9-4).
No. 22 Kansas St. 75, Villanova 63 -- Kendra Wecker returned after sitting out three games with a sprained ankle and scored 25 points for Kansas State (7-2) at Philadelphia. Liad Suez led Villanova (6-4) with 24 points.
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 55, UC Irvine 48 -- The Mustangs improved to 6-2, and the Anteaters are now 0-8. Before the game, UC Irvine Coach Mark Adams announced his resignation. Molly Tuter will serve as interim coach.
