A former San Diego police officer who took a leave of absence from his job to pursue an Internet business has pleaded guilty to felony charges of receiving stolen property before trying to sell it on the Internet, defense attorneys said.

James Estrella pleaded guilty Thursday to four counts of receiving stolen property. Estrella, 45, of Chula Vista, bought the goods from criminals he met while working as a patrol officer, according to authorities. He has been held on $1 million bail since his arrest July 21.

Estrella’s wife, Ruthy, 36, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property.
