More on the Cost of Bottled Water
The truly appalling thing about bottled water is that people are willing to pay extravagant prices, such as $1 per pint (“An Idyll Interrupted,” by Kenneth Miller, Aug. 1). Though one would think that home economics classes would teach relevant economics about water prices, one finds that school districts are foisting bottled water on students. A good school would sell plastic bottles for 5 cents each and direct students to the drinking fountain.

Thanks to Miller for his eye-opening article about the growing problem of water resource depletion by bottled water companies. Idyllwild has set a great example of how other communities can take a stand against similar water resource abuse.
