State Agency to Use Catamarans on Patrols
- Share via
State Fish and Game officials unveiled five speedy new boats Thursday that will be used to patrol the state’s coast when looking for poachers, scofflaws and potential terrorists.
The 58-foot catamarans will join several other boats operated by the agency, the U.S. Coast Guard and local police and sheriff’s departments.
The new boats, designed in New Zealand by Technicraft and built in Seattle, have twin 660-horsepower diesel engines and come with 18-foot Zodiac hurricane skiffs that will allow wardens to intercept large boats or check shallow waters.
