Slaying Suspect, 12, Was Questioned Alone
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A 12-year-old boy accused of strangling an 8-year-old neighbor in Carrollton was interrogated for four hours without his parents or a lawyer present before allegedly admitting his involvement, his attorney said.
“If there was an admission, it was not only under duress, it was flat wrong,†attorney Gerald Word said.
Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Brad Robinson said the boy’s questioning did not last four hours.
The boy, whose name is not being released by authorities, was charged with murder in death of Amy Yates.
