Opening Statements in Peterson Trial Delayed

Opening statements in Scott Peterson’s double-murder trial will be delayed a week because jury selection is behind schedule.
Attorneys had been set to begin the trial May 17. Judge Alfred A. Delucchi said Thursday that opening remarks would be heard May 24.
An additional pool of 100 potential jurors will be summoned in anticipation of falling short for the final panel of 12 and six alternates, Delucchi said.
Peterson could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole if he is convicted of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci.
