Another Salute From Arnie’s Army
Twenty-odd years ago, the firm I was with employed Arnold Palmer for a client golf outing. As one of the hosts, I had the opportunity to spend a brief time with him.
Our management asked him back for the next year. When he arrived, I approached him to reintroduce myself: “Hi, Arnie. I’m ... “ Before I could say my name he said, “Pat Shannon, how are you?”
Think about that. The dozens of golf outings he attends, plus the thousands of people he meets over the course of a year, to remember the name of someone he had only met briefly a year earlier is a reflection of Palmer, the man. Another reason why there are armies of Arnold Palmer fans all around the country. He never forgets his fans.
