Boy Killed When Iron Soccer Goal Topples
From Times Wire Reports
A 12-year-old boy was killed when a heavy iron soccer goal fell over, struck his head and pinned him to the ground, authorities said.
Luis Jimenez, a seventh-grader at J.W. Fair Middle School in east San Jose, died Thursday when he and other boys tried to lift the 8-foot-tall goal during a lunch break.
Students are not allowed to move goals, but the accident happened so quickly that playground supervisors couldn’t react in time, school officials said.
