School District Makes $44 Million More in Cuts

Seeking to close the gap in next year’s budget, the Los Angeles school board voted Thursday to make an additional $44.3 million in cuts. That means the board has trimmed about $471 million of the $500 million it must cut because of a projected shortfall in state funding.
Thursday’s cuts included eliminating about 10 administrative jobs, reducing transportation costs for special education and shifting some general fund costs to bond measures.
