2 Deputies Hurt When Their Cycles Collide
Two Ventura County sheriff’s deputies suffered minor injuries when their motorcycles collided Monday morning on the Moorpark Freeway in Thousand Oaks.
Deputies Erich Heinzelmann and Dean Worthy, both assigned to the Thousand Oaks traffic detail, were on the Janss Road northbound onramp about 8 a.m. when one motorcycle skidded and the rear tire clipped the other bike, causing both motorcycles to go down, Sheriff’s Sgt. Patti Salas said.
Worthy suffered a chipped anklebone and Heinzelmann was taken to a local hospital for evaluation after complaining of pain. Both deputies were released from the hospital by noon, Salas said.
The accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, she said.
