Economic Disconnect
Re “Cubans Find Tourism Is the Best Way to Make a Buck,†Sept. 6: Explain to me again how it is that an impoverished Third World country suffering the effects of a draconian embargo imposed by its northern neighbor can have free health care and free education for all of its citizens while we, the most powerful nation the world has ever known, struggle to provide even the basic necessities to our schoolchildren (“Schoolkids Go Begging as Military Gets Billions,†Voices, Sept. 6).
It’s no wonder that John Carter is angry. So am I. Impeach President Bush and his cronies now!
