Ventura County Championships
When: Today, 1:30 p.m.

Fast facts: Simi Valley Royal will attempt to win its third consecutive boys’ and girls’ titles in the 27th edition of the meet, assuming it is not postponed or canceled because of poor air quality from the Simi Valley wildfire. Royal, second in The Times’ Southland rankings, is heavily favored to win the boys’ championship. But the Highlander girls’ team will be an underdog to No. 5 Ventura.
