V. Hakulinen, 78; Olympic Champion Cross-Country Skier

Veikko Hakulinen, 78, Olympic gold medalist skier, died Saturday of injuries sustained when he was hit by a car in Helsinki, Finland, authorities said.
A champion cross-country skier, Hakulinen achieved international fame at the 1952 Olympics in Oslo, Norway. His Olympic victories included three gold medals, three silvers and one bronze.
Hakulinen also won seven medals at the World Cross-Country Championships during the 1950s.
