Surrendering to Vikings in historic York
York was one of our favorite cities in Britain [“Conquering York’s Historic Sites,” Oct. 5]. Perhaps because the author’s guide was a resident or because she had no children with her, she skipped the Jorvik Viking Center, an educational and fun place. A Disneyland-type ride takes you back in time to a Viking village complete with sounds and smells. (The smells are something our family has not forgotten.) There is a museum as well. You can look it up at www.jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk.
The day we were there, there was a wait, and we were entertained by wonderful street musicians.
