City officials are calling for a crackdown on prostitution, a growing problem in this San Diego suburb.
El Cajon police arrested 86 suspected prostitutes and customers from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31 -- more than double the arrests over the same period last year, according to statistics from Police Chief Jim Davis.
Police said the arrests also are netting younger women. Most are 18 to 25 years old, but some are barely teenagers. Police picked up a 13-year-old runaway from San Diego who was selling sex, Davis said.
