Mayoral Hopeful Bristles at Brown’s Remarks

One of the two candidates in the Dec. 9 runoff race for mayor went into Thanksgiving Day still stewing over accusations of racism made by current Mayor Willie Brown.
Supervisor Matt Gonzalez, who faces Gavin Newsom in the election, called Brown a liar Wednesday for suggesting publicly that Gonzalez has consistently voted against blacks seeking city jobs and appointments.
“If Mayor Brown wants to lie to the people of San Francisco, I don’t expect anything less. He’s been doing it for some time,” Gonzalez said.
