Estes Has New School but Can’t Join Teams
Former Los Alamitos football player Randy Estes has enrolled at Long Beach Poly, but his high school playing days are over.
Estes, suspended Nov. 6 by Los Alamitos after his arrest on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, attended Poly before obtaining an interdistrict transfer after his sophomore year.
By leaving Los Alamitos on his own, Estes avoided possible expulsion that might have kept him from attending Poly or any school in the Long Beach Unified School District, where he resides.
Estes, a 6-foot-2, 192-pound senior safety, was among the nation’s most coveted college football recruits. Southern Section rules prohibit him from playing varsity sports the remainder of the year.
Information on the proceedings after his arrest was not available.
