Man Guilty of Shooting at Pro Football Player
A gang member was convicted Tuesday of attempting to kill Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dennis Weathersby in a drive-by shooting earlier this year, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Juan Serna, 26, was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, two counts of shooting from a car and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. He faces multiple life terms in state prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 17.
Weathersby was wounded in the shooting. Prosecutors said Serna mistook him and his friend for gang members.
