Washington tailback Rich Alexis probably will sit out the rest of the season because of a torn quadriceps muscle in his left thigh.

Alexis, the Huskies’ leading rusher, has sat out two games because of what initially was reported as a bruised thigh. He was knocked out of an Oct. 18 victory at Oregon State and was re-injured in practice last week. Coach Keith Gilbertson said the injury usually requires four weeks to heal, not enough time for Alexis to return for Washington’s game against Washington State on Nov. 22.

Cornerbacks DeAngelo Hall of Virginia Tech and Antrel Rolle of Miami were suspended for a sideline fight in the Hokies’ victory against the Hurricanes last weekend. Hall will sit out the first half of the fifth-ranked Hokies’ game at No. 25 Pittsburgh on Saturday night, and Rolle will sit out No. 6 Miami’s game against No. 18 Tennessee. Hall and Rolle fought near the Miami bench with about five minutes left in Virginia Tech’s 31-7 victory Saturday night in Blacksburg.
