Gasoline Prices Continue to Decline

Retail gasoline prices in California fell for the 10th straight week, dipping 2.6 cents in the last seven days to a statewide average of $1.711 for a gallon of self-serve regular, according to a weekly federal survey.
Including the latest price drop, the average cost of fuel has fallen by 39 cents a gallon since Aug. 25. Pump prices are at levels seen before a price jump hit Californians in mid-August. Still, the latest average is 14.9 cents a gallon higher than for the same week last year, according to the Energy Information Administration, an arm of the Department of Energy.
The nationwide cost of fuel fell 0.007 of a cent to an average of $1.535 for a gallon of regular gasoline, according to the EIA.
