Screening for Travelers of SARS-Infected Areas

Italy announced that it would screen passengers arriving from countries at a high risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome and quarantine anyone suspected of infection. Doctors will check all passengers on flights from high-risk countries such as China, as well as those who connected elsewhere in Europe before reaching Italy.
The European Union earlier agreed that passengers from SARS-infected countries should fill in questionnaires. But Italian Health Minister Gerolamo Sirchia urged the EU to reconsider the need for tougher measures.
