Hong Kong Woman Hoards Heaps of Trash
From Times Wire Reports
Hong Kong authorities, called by neighbors complaining of a foul smell, said they found 30 tons of garbage accumulated by one woman -- including scrap metal, broken umbrellas and rat carcasses.
The woman, about 60, lived under the staircase of her apartment building. The trash was piled in two apartments and two rooftop sheds, said Felix Cheng of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department. The woman agreed to be hospitalized for psychiatric observation.
