PacifiCare Offers Grants to Latino Grads

A health maintenance organization will start a scholarship program to encourage Latinos to join the health professions.

PacifiCare Health Systems of Cypress announced last week it will provide 25 grants of $2,000 to Latino high school graduates who plan to join the health-care industry.

The application deadline is June 30.

Latinos seeking to become doctors, nurses, radiologists or support staff are eligible.

Other requirements include a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 and fluency in Spanish.
