You forgot one
Suzanne Muchnic’s survey of new museums and museum additions (“Still Ambitious -- Just on a Tighter Budget,†April 13) provided one more indication of our city’s development as a world-class city.
However, while the survey was comprehensive, it did not include the Historic Italian Hall Museum, which is partner to the Chinese American Museum, occupying the northwest corner of El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument.
As a result of city, state and broad community support, this historic structure, which served the local Italian American community from 1908 to 1931, has been restored and is now being converted into a museum that will document the history of Italian Americans in Los Angeles. It is scheduled to open in 2004.
