ABC News on Wednesday launched a 24-hour online service with live feeds and coverage of world and domestic events for those accessing the Web through high-speed Internet connections, as the news media prepare for a possible war with Iraq.
“We are definitely trying, over the course of the next 18 months to two years, to take small steps in creating an Internet news channel,” said Bernard Gershon, senior vice president and general manager of ABCNEWS.com.
The new service, called ABC News Live, will offer subscribers with high-speed connections streaming video that is focused on breaking news and live events -- from White House briefings to replays of recent ABC News programs like “World News Tonight” and archived news footage.
The new service will be available to subscribers of ABC News on Demand and RealNetworks.
