Spielberg’s western view
From a Times staff writer
DreamWorks Television, which has had success with miniseries for HBO (“Band of Brothersâ€) and the Sci-Fi Channel (“Takenâ€), is tackling another one for TNT about the American West. DreamWorks co-founder Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producer.
The project doesn’t have a title yet -- or writers, actors or directors, for that matter -- but it is envisioned as a 12-hour historical drama about the development of the West, told from the points of view of two families, one white, one Native American.
Production is scheduled to begin next summer, with the premiere projected for a year after that.
