From Times Wire Reports
A commuter train derailed in a ravine south of Sydney, Australia, during morning rush hour, killing nine people, seriously injuring 15 and trapping others in the wreckage for hours. All four of the train’s double-decker cars lay crumpled or toppled.
Doctors and paramedics were lowered to the scene by helicopter or taken in by army troop carriers. Police were investigating the cause of the crash. “There are bodies just strewn around the scene,” said Stephen Leahy of Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter.
