News anchors mobilize for war in Iraq

As war with Iraq looms, U.S. troops are being deployed to the Middle East and so are the news anchors.

Dan Rather will anchor “CBS Evening News” from Baghdad next week, while Katie Couric will be reporting from Saudi Arabia on NBC’s “Today” show Monday and Tuesday.

NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw also visited Baghdad for an hourlong documentary, “The Road to Baghdad,” that airs Sunday at 7 p.m. He spent time there with a family that is making preparations for the possibility of attack. The program also includes interviews with a U.S. soldier getting ready for deployment, former Iraqi citizens who are in favor of war against Saddam Hussein, an antiwar activist and Secretary of State Colin L. Powell.
