Nick Young, Reseda Cleveland: Had 38 points, 21 rebounds and three blocked shots in an 89-77 victory over L.A. University in a City Championship first-round game.
Christian Smith, Harbor City Narbonne: Scored 37 points, including two free throws with five seconds remaining to give Narbonne an 83-81 City Invitational first-round win over Granada Hills.
Brandon Sweeney, Pasadena: Had a steal and game-winning layup in a 52-50 victory over Santa Ana Foothill in a Division II-AA first-round game.
Robert Locke, Santa Monica Crossroads: Scored 16 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter in a 68-66 victory over Twentynine Palms in a Division IV-AA second-round game.
Ryan Klix, Riverside Christian: Had 17 points in a 55-52 upset of fourth-seeded Sherman Oaks Buckley.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Sheena Shaver, L.A. Jordan: Had 23 points, seven rebounds and six steals in a 55-45 victory over L.A. Marshall in a City Championship first-round game.
Sophia Lenard, Carson: Had 16 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots in a 48-47 victory over Los Angeles in a City Championship first-round game.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Harry Aroyan, Van Nuys Grant: Scored three goals in a 5-1 victory over Lake Balboa Birmingham in a first-round City playoff game.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Courtney Lewis, Mission Viejo Tesoro: Scored two second-half goals, leading the Titans from a two-goal deficit in a 3-2 victory over Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon in a Southern Section Division II first-round game.
Kelly Little, Long Beach Wilson: Scored two goals, including the game-winner on a volley in overtime, to lead the Bruins over North Torrance, 2-1, in a Division I first-round game.
