Capitol Chandelier Falls, Destroying a Bench
From Times Wire Reports
A 600-pound antique chandelier fell nearly 50 feet during maintenance at the Missouri Capitol in Jefferson City, smashing a bench but injuring no one.
The chandelier fell in the state Senate chamber as workers were checking its light bulbs. A brass chain broke, said Dave Mosby, the state’s facilities operations manager.
The bench and the chandelier are original items of the Capitol, which was built between 1913 and 1919.
