Protocol Chief Honored for 40 Years of Service
Celebrities from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to baseball Hall of Famer Willie Mays mingled at a party honoring the city’s chief of protocol, Charlotte Shultz, for 40 years of public service.
About 500 guests, also including Sen. Dianne Feinstein and former San Francisco Mayor Art Agnos, attended the Sunday-night surprise party at City Hall.
As protocol chief, Shultz helped plan civic events from opera balls to Super Bowl parades during the terms of seven San Francisco mayors.
The events included the visits of Pope John Paul II and Queen Elizabeth.
